This week, the prices of 5-series and 6-series consumer-grade ternary cathode precursors, as well as 8-series power-grade ternary cathode precursors, have all increased to varying degrees.
On the raw material side, nickel sulphate prices saw a slight increase, cobalt sulphate prices remained stable, while manganese sulphate prices experienced a slight decline. Supply side, with the approach of the Chinese New Year, demand in the spot order market has been relatively weak, and precursor manufacturers mainly focused on fulfilling long-term contracts. Demand side, although the production of certain material enterprises is expected to increase, most manufacturers have reduced their production, leading to relatively weak overall demand.
Looking ahead to future prices, cost side, nickel sulphate and manganese sulphate prices are expected to have room for further increases, while cobalt sulphate prices may decline. As a result, the prices of ternary cathode precursors across different series may rise to varying extents, with high-nickel products seeing relatively larger price increases, while low-nickel products are likely to experience relatively small price increases.
